Voting at DUFs General Assembly

The politics and activities of DUF are decided every year by the General Assembly. Every second year the General Assembly elects a Board consisting of 17 members including a chairman and deputy chairman of DUF. Between general assemblies the Board is the primary organ, making all political decisions and taking responsibility for the economy and the activities of DUF.

The secretariat implements the decisions of the Board and the General Assembly and is led by the Secretary General. There are around 30 employees at the secretariat and their functions are divided into four main areas:

  • Organisational development and service
  • Politics and communication
  • International projects
  • Administration of subsidies

DUF also works as the administrator of the state funding that each year is assigned to the voluntary work of children and young people in Denmark. The majority is given to the working of the national organisations, but there is also an opportunity to apply for money for specific initiatives. The administration of subsidies and pools is controlled by committees. The committees consist of board members and representatives nominated by the member organisations. The funds are divided into five categories:

  • Subsidies for running expenses of national organisations
  • National projects
  • National projects on integration
  • International projects
  • Middle East projects
