DUF considers the United nations to be the most important global forum, where issues relevant to children and youth are debated.
DUF is engaged in the UN activities relating to children and young people in several different ways:
- From 1972 til 2007 DUF has been sending Youth Delegates to the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The Youth Delegates speak for the Danish youth in an address to the UNGA’s third committee. Due to lack of funding DUF hasn't sent delegates since 2008.
- DUF is working to ensure that the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is respected. Unfortunately a number of countries – including Denmark – is in breach of the convention.
- Furthermore DUF is engaged in the fight to ensure the fulfillment of the Millennium Development Goals.
That serveral Danish MPs and goverment ministers have served as UN Youth Delegates in DUF?
