Integration

DUF strives to improve and strengthen the integration of children and young people with an immigrant or refugee background. Volunteer organisations have the potential to play an important part in creating friendships and mutual cultural understanding between young people with different ethnic origins. Therefore, DUF supports and counsels its member organisations in establishing integration projects and activities that welcome different ethnic groups. DUF encourages children from families with limited means to participate in one of the many volunteer organisations, and it is possible to apply for support for membership fees and equipment such as scout uniforms.

DUF also supports the establishment and development of ethnic minority volunteer organisations by offering counseling in organisational matters and applications for financial support. In December 2007, the first ethnic minority organisation became a member of DUF when the Association of Young New Danes was admitted by the General Assembly.
