Global Youth Voices
The involvement of youth delegates at the United Nations has developed over the last decades, contributing to global decision-making. However, national youth delegate programmes to the UN are not homogenous and their structures vary across UN Member States. Recruitment, funding, training, government involvement, participation at different UN meetings, and many other features of youth delegate programmes can take several forms depending on the Member State.
With this context in mind, as part of the Future Agents Now project coordinated by the Danish, Estonian and Finnish youth councils, developed in 2023 the report Global Youth Voices.
Global Youth Voices maps the similarities and differences across 27 UN Youth Delegate programmes, primarily in the European region. The report presents an overview of how youth delegate programmes to the UN function as well as gives examples on specific characteristics of how the programmes are organised.
The report can serve as a source of information and inspiration for both new programmes being designed and set up for the first time, as well as existing programmes wishing to develop further.
The report was launched in April 2023 in New York in cooperation with the Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations on the margins of ECOSOC Youth Forum.
